Spiro Benin launching its operations in 2022, has quickly gained traction by providing Beninois Riders with an affordable alternative to petrol motorcycles. With over 6,000 electric motorbikes sold in only two years, Spiro is helping to empower local communities, especially Moto taxi riders, by reducing operational costs and enhancing earnings. Riders like Koffi Mensah do not have to worry about fluctuating fuel prices or having to service their petrol bike ever so often.

To support its commitment to electric mobility, Spiro Benin has established several battery-swapping stations across major cities, Cotonou, Porto-Novo, and Parakou. In partnership with local finance institutions, Spiro is fostering an ecosystem that brings green technology within reach for everyday commuters, contributing to Benin’s sustainable development goals.

Togo

Spiro Togo, which commenced operations in 2020, is at the forefront of transforming the transportation landscape by offering eco-friendly and economical alternatives to traditional motorcycles. Within a few months, Spiro has sold over 6,000 electric bikes, with riders like Yao Kodjo seeing up to a 45% reduction in daily expenses compared to fuel-powered bikes. This transition saves money and also enhances the income potential for local Moto taxi drivers. 

Expanding its impact, Spiro Togo has set up battery-swapping stations across Lomé, Sokodé, and Kara, ensuring seamless accessibility for riders. Partnering with local cooperatives and government entities, Spiro is making sustainable transport a reality, reducing carbon emissions, and generating economic opportunities across Togo.

Rwanda

Spiro Rwanda launched in 2022 bringing a new era of green mobility to the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” With a commitment to empowering moto-taxi operators, Spiro has sold over 1,300 electric bikes, which offer riders like Ignace NSEKANABO, a 30% reduction in operating expenses, significantly increasing his daily profits. This transition to electric bikes aligns with the nation's ambitious sustainability goals and its dedication to environmental stewardship.

In Kigali and beyond, including Muhanga, Kayonza, Rwamagana, and Bugesera, Spiro Rwanda has strategically positioned battery-swapping stations to serve right as seamlessly across the country. By working with financial institutions, cooperatives, and local government bodies, Spiro is enhancing the accessibility of electric vehicles, fostering green innovation, and supporting Rwanda’s efforts to create a cleaner and more resilient urban landscape. Spiro Rwanda also proudly promotes job creation with gender equality having a fleet of more than 50 Women riders to date and 40 % Women employees in various departments. As a driving force in Rwanda’s shift to eco-friendly transport, Spiro continues to support the nation's vision of becoming a model for sustainable development in Africa.

Uganda

Spiro Uganda, operational since June 2024, has sparked a significant shift in the boda boda sector, providing riders with affordable, sustainable alternatives to petrol bikes. With over 1,000 electric motorcycles now in the hands of Ugandan riders, the impact is evident: boda boda riders report a noticeable improvement in daily savings because they ride more, earn more, and spend less. 

To enhance rider convenience, Spiro Uganda has deployed battery-swapping stations in Greater Kampala, Mukono, Wakiso, Jinja, and Mbarara. Through partnerships with local asset financiers, local banks, and franchisees, Spiro is advancing Uganda’s green mobility vision, creating jobs, and reducing emissions. As part of a long-term commitment to the community, Spiro continues to work with local authorities and stakeholders to drive a cleaner, more inclusive future for transportation in Uganda.

Nigeria

Spiro Nigeria began its operations in July 2024 making a strategic expansion into Africa’s largest economy. Starting in Ogun State, Spiro has already begun deploying Electric bikes on the road, and early adopters like Emeka Johnson have noted the reliability and quieter operation of Spiros electric bikes, which allow them to provide a smoother, more comfortable ride for passengers and attract more consistent business throughout the day.

Looking ahead, Spiro Nigeria’s ambitious growth plan includes expanding into major states across the country, with planned hubs in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, Oyo, Ibadan, Delta, and Kwara. By building a network of Public Fast Charging and battery Swapping and collaborating with financial institutions and local governments, Spiro is laying the foundation for a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem.

This expansion will contribute to Nigeria’s environmental goals while empowering Okada riders with a more sustainable and affordable transportation option.

Kenya

Spiro Kenya commenced operations in September 2023 and sold over 1,300 electric bikes, highlighting a growing interest in electric mobility. The company is dedicated to empowering Bodaboda operators by enhancing their earnings by adopting more cost-effective and sustainable transportation options. For instance, Robert Kimani has reported a nearly 40% reduction in operational costs since switching from an internal combustion engine bike to an electric vehicle.

Recently, Spiro Kenya established a state-of-the-art assembly plant for electric vehicles, which has directly created jobs for 60 Kenyans, with plans to increase this number to over 100. The company also provides after-sales services in major operational cities: Mombasa, Nairobi, Eldoret, and Kisumu. Spiro Kenya has formed strategic partnerships with various stakeholders, including local county governments, dealer networks, prominent Financiers, and potential business collaborators. By promoting a transition to electric mobility, Spiro is not only fostering economic growth but also contributing to environmental sustainability.
